Doris Shelton, Owner of The BEGIN AGAIN SHOPPE

My grandson, Seth, created this web-site, and although I asked him to tell you about me, he insists I tell you about myself as the “mother” of The BEGIN AGAIN SHOPPE. So, here goes. What do I value? I value people, good stewardship, and a functional life-style. For those reasons, BEGIN AGAIN, has become my 3rd child or my 5th grandchild, as I have enjoyed giving guidance and direction to help The SHOPPE grow to meet the needs of our Consignors and Customers.

Many of you may never have seen me at BEGIN AGAIN. That’s because I have another passion to which I devote most of my daily work hours. I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and for 40 years have enjoyed the challenges of working with other professionals all focused toward maximizing the quality of life of persons with severe and profound levels of retardation and developmental disabilities. After retirement in December 2009, I now look toward professional work based in a nursing home setting.

Well, I’m sure that this is enough to know about me. The really important people to mention are our staff.

The BEGIN AGAIN SHOPPE Staff

• Shoppe manager, Patsy began working at BEGIN AGAIN in 1995. She is always willing to help you in any way possible and provides outstanding guidance and direction to our daily operations.
• Susan has been a significant contributor in moving BEGIN AGAIN forward. Joining our staff in 1990, she is the creative “genius” behind the outstanding store and window displays.
• Michaela has also been with us since 1990 and is certainly a hard worker and “a Michaela (Jack) of all trades” as well as master of all.
• Lada, my daughter, and Seth and Grace, my grandchildren have been with The SHOPPE either their entire life or most of it. Certainly they have grown with the business and the business with them as each has served an important role.
• Our “miscellaneous ladies” Bea and Donna have emptied boxes and identified thousands of sundry items. They also entertain the children at The SHOPPE with movies.
• Other major contributors are Lee,Jane, Camile, Janet, Angela, Susan, Lindsey and Daniel.

Together these wonderful people allow BEGIN AGAIN to begin again every day as each is person-centered toward you our Consignors and Customers. Now that you know who we are and who BEGIN AGAIN is, let me tell you what we believe.

What are Our Vision and Purposes?

The BEGIN AGAIN SHOPPE will set an example of excellence in the market place. We are about giving our Consignors a way to regain a portion of their initial investment for purchases they no longer need and to offer Customers a shopping destination that provides quality selections at fair resale prices in a Christian based business.

What are Our Goals?

It is our desire to be a blessing to both our Consignors and Customers as each enjoys the opportunity to be a good steward of their resources, whether as a Consignor to sell or a Customer to buy.

As a business, we also want to be good stewards by recycling through resales, for ecology and economy. Thus, we strive to be the consignment business where QUALITY and VALUE BEGIN and continue AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. Last but not least, it is our intent to treat every Consignor and Customer with respect and as our valued friends as we work together to recycle through resales.

Why are the Butterfly and Daisy Our Logo?

The butterfly symbolizes the transformation from the initial larva / cocoon stages to become a beautiful butterfly as resale also represents a transformation from the original owner to a new one; thus, to “BEGIN AGAIN”. The daisy represents freshness which characterizes our carefully selected items available for resale.

In Summary

We desire that The BEGIN AGAIN SHOPPE be an inviting destination shopping experience, where every Consignor and Customer knows he or she is welcome and appreciated and vital to our mutual success as we work together in partnership. We shall always strive for excellence in both the appearance and integrity of the business being diligent to maximize the opportunities in our mutual consignment / resale venture.
